Our approach to therapy

We provide supportive, scientific treatment tailored to your unique needs and personality.

While psychotherapy can be a great catharsis, we provide more than that. Therapy at Emanate is an active process that empowers you with tools to change your life. With backgrounds in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, we deliver holistic treatment that is both evidence-based and individualized. Our doctors approach therapy from a strengths-based mindset, believing the process to be most helpful when it aligns people with their most important values, rather than simply decreasing symptoms.

Cognitive-Behavioral strategies are key in the healing process. In therapy, you will explore how your thoughts, actions, and emotions are related to one another. Further, you will soon understand how these components of self are related to your suffering or alternatively, your happiness. Additionally, we will work with you to implement mindfulness strategies and build self-compassion. Finding compassion for your struggles can be difficult, but it is imperative in moving through them.

The relationship between therapist and client is undeniably important. We strive to build connections based on warmth, compassion, safety, and humor. We work with individuals, couples and families, believing that healthy relationships are the foundation for healing.

Gaining insight

Gaining insight into your own internal world (i.e.: your triggers, reactions, behaviors, thoughts, and emotions) will help you understand yourself in a new way. Insight is imperative in healing. Before you can make changes, you must become aware of why you are feeling or reacting the way you are. This will be a key step in making the changes you want to see in your life

Compassion is the path

Finding self-compassion can be difficult, but it is our path to healing. Many people are used to engaging in constant negative self-talk, and often aren't even aware this is the case. Finding new, more gentle ways to think and respond to yourself is important in finding relief. Self-compassion can also make you more productive, efficient, and present in all areas of your lives.

Getting present

It's all about the here and now. Mindfulness helps us become aware, grounded, and fully engaged in our lives. It helps us stop missing the small moments that ultimately make up the entirety of our lives. It helps us get out of past or future ruminations. Being mindful helps us connect to ourselves and others. After all, isn't that what we are looking for?

FAQs

How often will I attend sessions?

Many people start with weekly sessions, although bi-weekly and monthly sessions are options too. Depending on your needs, schedule, and finances, you and your individual doctor can determine what is right for you.

Do you take insurance?

We do not take insurance in network. We do provide super bills (receipts) for out of network reimbursement. If you call your insurance company and inquire about reimbursement for out of network behavioral health providers, they will indicate what percentage they will cover. Please inquire with us, we can help you navigate this process.

What will my course of treatment look like?

This varies between clients, and will depend on your individual needs and desires. We will work together to create treatment goals, and then will work in a flexible, yet intentional way to achieve these goals. We will support you, challenge you, and inspire you to work toward the change you want to see in your life.
